Nemours Health Prevention Community Transformation Grant
In order to prevent the top three causes of death in Delaware (heart disease, cancer, stroke), along with diabetes, the goal of the Community Transformation Grant (CTG) is to support health behaviors. (active living, health eating and social emotional wellbeing) through the creation of more cohesive local wellness policies as well as develop school environments that support student wellness in the Red Clay, Christina, Colonial, Capital, Woodbridge, Seaford and Indian Rive School Districts.
Active Living
District: Nemours Health Prevention Services (NPHS) will work with school districts to develop strong, comphrensive wellness policies for physical activity within the school environment.
Schools: The district wellness policy will guide schools to develop a school-wide action plan addressing how they will increase opportunities for physical activity throughout the student's program day.
High School: - NPHS will work with participating high schools to develop and test an approach for engaging high school students in developing a personal healthy living plan that will transfer the responsibility for health behaviors to the student.
